OSLA STUDENT BOARD MEMBER (1 Position)

OSLA recognizes the valuable perspective Graduate students offer to the professions of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. As stated by our Bylaws:

 

4.01.01 The Board will also have a non-voting observer-status Student Representative (s), appointed by the students of Ontario’s speech-language pathology and audiology programs.

 

OSLA maintains two student positions on the Board of Directors; consisting of one Year 1 & one Year 2 student, who are enrolled in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology programs in the province of Ontario.

 

Requirements:

We are currently looking for ONE Speech-Language Pathology student to sit on OSLA’s Board of Directors from 2020-2022. This student must be in Year 1 of their program* at the following universities:

·       University of Toronto

·       McMaster University

·       Laurentian University

·       Western University

·       University of Ottawa

*Students applying must be Year 1 of their program to ensure a one-year overlap with our Year 2 Student Board member.

Responsibilities:

·       Participate in 4 meetings per year, including the Annual General Meeting over a 2-year term.

·       Assist in non-voting decision making processes regarding the Association's governance

·       Liaise with select Board members as part of a Board committee that is in line with your own future profession (e.g. S-LP or AUD).

·       Connect with OSLA Student Representatives on a regular basis to provide OSLA with program and research updates

·       Take an active role in planning and coordination of student initiatives and events

·       Please note as a Board Member, you are also required to complete the responsibilities of a Student Representative (please see below for a complete list) and therefore you will also act as a Student Representative for your respective University
